Caring for your flowers

VASE

Select a vase that is the right size and shape for your flowers. Using the wrong size/shaped vase can negatively affect they way a bouquet is displayed. Always make sure the vase is clean. A dirty is the worst enemy of fresh flowers.

FOLIAGE

Remove all leaves from stems that will be below the water level. This will reduce bacteria growing in the water.

CUT

If possible, on day three cut the stems and put them in water immediately. Recut every couple of days to freshen up the ends.

LOCATION

Avoid direct sunlight, heat/heaters (including tv’s), fruit bowls, smoke and draughts as these will dramatically reduce the vase life of your flowers

WATER

Replenish the water frequently. Change the water entirely every 2-3 days to prolong the life of your blooms or whenever the water becomes cloudy.

DRIED FLOWERS

Some flowers are perfect for drying so they may be enjoyed for many more months to come. One method of drying flowers is to remove the majority of the leaves, tie twine to the ends of the stems and hang upside down in a cool, dry, shaded position with plenty of airflow. Not all flowers require being hung upside to dry but have fun experimenting.
